I was excited to join the annual 48 hours short film competition for 2009. No, not because I enjoyed staying awake for 48 hours and pulling my hair out planning for the competition and production itself. One reason why I wanted to join was that there were more people who wanted to learn about filmmaking. This event would give them a good starting experience. In the end, I was glad that everyoneSmartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-58446818656817180442009-03-05T22:00:00.007+08:002009-03-05T23:42:43.946+08:00FIRST TAKES @ THE SUBSTATIONClick here for more pics2 March 2009 - One never has any mood to work on Mondays. Mondays, to me is the start of a 5-day work week that has you doing repetitive tasks; wake up in the morning, get read for work, go to work, come home tired, hang around the living room, sleep so one can wake up for work the next morning. That morning was different because it was First Takes night at The Substation.Smartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-53146745591728598002009-02-06T12:04:00.007+08:002009-02-06T14:44:34.388+08:00Subtleties in Mat Superhero and Tak Dong ChengBeing a diehard My Sassy Girl fan, I joined a fan created facebook group that discusses the movie. One of the wall posts lists down all the little subtleties and hidden messages of the movie. So I came up with a list too...heheheh. Me and Jas enjoy putting these little things into our movies cause...well, we enjoy it. Private joke and to those who want to take notice.Subtleties in Mat Superhero1)Smartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-2668242677452629822009-02-06T10:31:00.006+08:002009-02-06T11:14:04.145+08:00First post in 2009 and a future projectMy goodness, it is February 2009 already?!? How time flies. 2008 has been a good year, and prospects of 2009 looks exciting. What have I done other than my job? Played soccer to stay fit and joined this facebook society called Singapore Malay Film Society founded by Isnor. Fun stuff. I made lots of new friends, got involved in short films (and learning more stuff than ever about production), and Smartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-31661614879893156482008-10-04T17:05:00.004+08:002008-10-04T17:36:15.710+08:00Roaring SuccessThe first time I saw Kallang Roar (KR) trailer, I went.. finally! a movie about local soccer. The last one was one leg kicking and even though some people disliked it, I like it cause it had that homely feeling. And when I found out that Cheng DinAn was the director of KR, I smiled to myself. I knew Cheng when I was studying in Perth and this guy is crazy bout soccer. A very good player at that.Smartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-13304848676198470842008-09-19T01:58:00.009+08:002008-09-19T02:19:43.661+08:00Finding that perfect story..Many people are impressed by the story of Brotherhood. The short film shows loyalty and easy to relate events accompanied with lots of action sequences. I got the chance to interview Shahrezza on his short film titled Consequences: Brotherhood and what inspired him to make this great story.Did you write the script yourself? The story is about my past life. My experience in life led me to write Smartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-62075171890826049182008-09-15T15:06:00.004+08:002008-09-15T15:19:26.868+08:00Watch more short films at 8th Asian Film SymposiumThe 8th Asian Film Symposium is back again! Another interviewer was Nazrin and his advice to the actor at the end of the audition session really made alot of sense to me. It made me wan to be an actor!!His advise was...as an actor, one have to observe 3 basic rules. The order is as follows:1. From 'The Prize', I saw that Chris's acting was natural and not forced so when I wrote the script for TDC, it was with him in mind. Chris also turn out to be a very fun Smartmat Filmshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16379148165365493529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199611799163995204.post-39677384965109272012008-08-24T03:51:00.008+08:002008-08-26T23:05:47.790+08:00Tak Dong Cheng actorsI shall keep on saying this over and over again...I love TDC's actors. They are the best. People did ask me to create a bloopers clip for fun. But... I cant make a bloopers clip because there's not much bloopers!! There was only one: where Chris was about to hit Yazid with a slipper. The scene wasn't perfect so I shouted CUT. But Chris continued to hit Yazid on the head with the slipper anyway. It was time for Tak Dong Cheng 's first screening for cast and crew. A few guests had been invited too.I was nervous as there were many questions running thru my head. Will people turn up and is there enough sitting room for everyone? Will they enjoy TDC? Will the team be able to pull off our screening event smoothly?
